The short version
Everything you paste, type, open or load into any JSON Formatter Kit tool — JSON, tokens, keys, SQL, text or files — is processed entirely in your browser. It is never sent to or stored on our servers.
What is stored on your device
- Your last input in each tool and preferences such as indentation, theme and pane size are saved in your browser’s
localStorageso they survive a page refresh. Use the Clear button in a tool, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings, to remove them at any time. - Network tools are the only exception, and only when you use them. The DNS lookup tools send the domain or IP address you enter to Cloudflare’s public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver (1.1.1.1) to get the answer. The API Tester sends the request you build directly to the URL you enter. Nothing else is included in these requests, and no other tool makes network requests with your data.
- An offline cache of the site’s own files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) so the tool works without a connection.
Share links
When you create a share link, your JSON is compressed and placed in the part of the URL after the #. Browsers never send that part of a URL to a server, so the data is only visible to people you give the link to.
Loading from a URL
If you use Load JSON from URL, your browser requests that URL directly. The owner of that server will see the request as they would for any visit.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider may record standard request logs (such as IP address, user agent and the page requested) for security and reliability. These logs never contain your JSON.
